Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a game-changing technology for mining and exploration geology. It is a laser based technique benefiting from technological advances in miniaturisation, lasers and processing speeds.

LIBS is a highly sensitive with results in the ppb range on some elements. Uniquely it also can analyse very small points (50µm) at a rapid rate (up to 1000/sec).  This combination brings a lot of very unique capabilities as an analytical geological tool that enables microanalysis on a macro-scale.
