Overview
The evolution of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is being shaped by the rapid adoption of Industry 4.0 principles, driving the transition from conventional manual inspection methods to fully automated, data-driven solutions. This presentation outlines the technological roadmap for the next generation of NDT, focusing on digitalisation, automation and the integration of cutting-edge innovations that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve inspection quality.
A detailed analysis of computed tomography (CT) inspection will be presented. We will also present real-world applications of AI, including weld detection, surface mount device (SMD) part counting and image quality indicator (IQI) recognition. These applications demonstrate how AI enhances defect detection, optimises workflow efficiency and minimises human error. The case studies illustrate the tangible benefits of AI-driven RT interpretation, including increased throughput and improved shopfloor decision-making.
VisiConsult’s NDT 4.0 strategy serves as a basis for digital transformation, highlighting its approach to automation, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, robotics, computed tomography and simulation. Preliminary findings and future directions are also addressed.
