AXT Pty. Ltd., a leading supplier of scientific equipment for industry and academia has just been appointed an official distributor for SELFRAG in Australia and New Zealand. SELFRAG designs and manufactures high voltage pulse power fragmentation equipment for the geoscience, mining, recycling and solar industries.
SELFRAG equipment uses high voltage pulse power for the selective fragmentation of materials such as composites, minerals and geological samples. This unique technology is able to use as-received materials as feedstock and reduce them down to microns in a matter of seconds. The process itself is used for liberating morphologically intact materials. More conventional comminution techniques have the potential to damage or degrade samples in size, form or chemical composition.
The SELFRAG Lab is able to deal with samples in the kilogram range, while larger systems are available to deal with higher throughputs. The Lab system is suited to universities, research institutions and industrial laboratories involved with mining and recycling. A number of these systems are already installed throughout Australia at Curtin University, Macquarie University and Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) where they are both well used and well-received.
Faiz Ahmad, SELFRAG’s head of Sales & Marketing commented: “We are delighted to be able to join forces with AXT and increase our representation in the Asia-Pacific region. This a growing market for us and we look forward having more of our instruments installed throughout the region.”
“The SELFRAG product line is a perfect fit for AXT,” said Richard Trett, AXT Managing Director. “We already work closely with clients involved in mining research and this allows us to offer them even more. SELFRAG’s products utilise unique but proven technology which is consistent with many of the brands and products that we already distribute.”
AXT has been involved with the distribution of scientific instruments for over 20 years. They currently represent internationally recognised brands including TESCAN scanning electron microscopes (SEMs), Rigaku x-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray fluorescence (XRF) and x-ray microscopes, as well as sample preparation equipment from Rocklabs, SPEX and Katanax. AXT will also support SELFRAG by servicing existing instruments as well as new installations.
