Direct Electron

Next generation direct detection TEM cameras

  • Founded in 2007, Direct Electron are designers and manufacturers of ultra-high performance cameras for electron microscopists. Their cameras utilise in-house developed Direct Detection Device (DDD®) technology that was pioneered in conjunction with the University of California San Diego (UCSD).

They introduced the world’s first commercially available direct detection TEM camera in 2010 that was also capable of 4D-STEM. Since then they have continued to develop higher-specification cameras to suit the growing needs of the research community e.g. introducing models with higher resolution, event-based TEM cameras and blistering acquisition speed ideal for dynamic experiments.

Their cameras offer the ultimate resolution, sensitivity, and the largest available field-of-view. They enable microscopists to collect high-quality data faster and optimise the optical performance of existing TEMs. Furthermore, they allow users to generate stunning and reliable 3D reconstructions providing the ultimate insights into the structure of their samples.

Their cameras allow you to aggressively push the boundaries of EM giving you a competitive edge.
